Jon Hicks is leaving Opera, and you can hire him!

Jon Hicks just announced that he's leaving Opera (mirror).

As you probably know, he has been doing his thing here at Opera for a while, and I must say it has been great to work with him. He started out by making Opera Mini and Opera Mobile look beautiful and modern, and he will now ensure that Opera 10.50 looks its best when hitting the market as a final version later this year.

He seems to have enjoyed his time here, so hopefully we can hire him for various projects in the future.

And don't forget that from May, you can hire him for your design needs as well:

So if you’re looking for a icon/interface/logo/website designer or even character illustrator (the Mailchimp mascot has become the new ‘animal on fire round a globe’ request!) from May onwards, then please drop me an email.

Send him an e-mail if you are interested.

  4. I must second what others have said in that Mr. Hicks certainly did a splendid job on Opera.I obviously have no idea how the design tasks have been distributed internally at Opera, but since the announcement of Hicks Norwegian employment, Opera has gotten a serious improvement in looks.I must say I'm extremely happy about the direction Opera is going in and 10.5 looks to be closing in on perfect. Keep it up and good luck with all your endeavours.

  5. Great work Jon! It's been fun watching your (and your team's I suppose) improvements unfold through the desktop team snapshots!

  11. So Jon Hicks was hired for the Opera 10/10.5 skin jobs? But anyway, to be honest, he did a darn good job for the design of Opera Browsers(Desktop/Mobile/Mini)

  12. Jon was hired to do design in general. He started out with the mobile interface, and then moved on to working on the desktop browser. He has probably done more, but those are the big projects I know he's been working on.
