How to disable the narrow text columns in Opera Mini for iPhone, iPod and iPad

Opera Mini wraps text columns to fit the screen when zoomed in by default. This could potentially cause problems on some sites, and it might make sense to disable this on devices with a larger screen, such as the iPhone.

To do so, open a new type and enter "opera:config" or just "config:" as the address, and set the "Fit text to screen" dropdown to "No", then scroll to the bottom and hit the "Save" button.

  1. sadly this makes opera:config almost unusable on the ipod touch (either zooms in or out too much). Ah well, don't need opera:config often anyways

  2. Why aren't they options exposed in the standard configuration pane? Half of them are perfectly useful without being particularly esoteric.
