Going Greener: Opera’s new servers with even lower power consumption (and better performance)

Last month, Opera Software was the first to make use of a new eco-friendly data center on Iceland. You can find some pictures of the opening of the Thor Data Center on Iceland in the Choose Opera blog.

If that wasn't green enough for you, we just published a press release about the new servers we are moving to. Not only will performance increase by one third, but power consuption will be lowered by more than 35 with the new servers compared to the old ones.

With more than 120 million active Opera users and continuing growth, that could turn out to be a significant reduction in power consumption.

  1. Good investment. Will it effect as good performance to reach webpages and to bring them fast?

    That would be interesting.

  3. Sounds great – I would also be interested in seeing some more tech information – even if it is just pictures of rows of racks. :love:P.S. you missed 'percent' after 35 and also a typo for consumption! 💡

  4. This is so 😎 Improved performance with reduced power consumption. +1 I'd like to see pictures of servers too.
